A man has been seriously injured after an assault in Whanganui last night.
Police said a man was found injured and unresponsive at a home on Paterson St shortly before 10pm.
He had sustained "critical head injuries" and was flown to Wellington Hospital.
"There were other people were at the address at the time of the assault, and police want to hear from anyone who can help us understand the events that led up to this assault," a police spokesperson said.
Investigators have conducted a scene examination and enquiries are ongoing.
