A new way to give donations this Christmas has so far raised more than $10,000 for charities in a little over a week.
Giving Machines opened at Auckland’s Sylvia Park late last month, allowing the public to choose what they want to donate and how much.
"It’s simple and easy, just like a vending machine!" the company said on its Facebook page.
There are 30 different options for donation, ranging from items like textbooks and school uniforms to meals and sports equipment.
The Giving Machines were established by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 2017.
So far, they've raised $20m for charities around the world.
Six charities are involved in the initiative here – the Auckland City Mission, The Nest Collection, Woven Earth, Buttabean Motivation, the Child Cancer Foundation, and Feed the Need.
The three machines at the Sylvia Park location have a goal of $100,000 over the festive period.
