Police arrest second person in Nelson homicide investigation

Police have arrested a second person in relation to the death of a Nelson man last month.

Detective Inspector Lex Bruning said a woman, 30, is due in court today after being charged with accessory after the fact to murder, following the death of Stoke man James Whitikau Barton on November 10.

The 33-year-old man earlier charged with murder was also due to appear in Nelson District Court today.

Police earlier thanked the public for their help with the case.

"The information we received was valuable in piecing together what happened on the night Mr Whitikau died and enabled us to come to this result," Bruning said.

"As this matter is now before the court, Police are limited in making further comment."
