A new ranking of the world's most expensive cities has been revealed - with both Auckland and Wellington featuring in the list.
The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has released its Worldwide Cost of Living 2023 report.
The report looks into the cost of living across 172 major cities worldwide.
"This year's Worldwide Cost of Living survey (WCOL) shows that the global cost-of-living crisis is not over yet, even though inflation has moderated.
"This year's Index sees Singapore regaining the top spot in the rankings for the ninth time in the past eleven years, tying with Zurich (Switzerland)," a statement from the EIU said.
"Price rises have not significantly moderated in 2023 for Australia and New Zealand, but the seven cities covered in the survey also fell down the ranks."
Auckland and Wellington, ranked equally on 37th in last year's ranking, are joint holders of 47th place this year.
After Singapore and Zurich, the top 10 is rounded out by: Geneva (Switzerland), New York (US), Hong Kong, Los Angeles (US), Paris (France), Copenhagen (Denmark), Tel Aviv (Israel) and San Francisco (US).
Syria's capital, Damascus, is the cheapest city on the list.
Other cities in the bottom 10 include Buenos Aires (Argentina), Chennai (India), Lagos (Nigeria), Ahmedabad (India), Lusaka (Zambia), Tunis (Tunisia), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Karachi (Pakistan), Tripoli (Libya), and Tehran (Iran).
"This year's Worldwide Cost of Living survey (WCOL) found that, on average, prices had risen by 7.4% year on year in local-currency terms for over 200 commonly used goods and services."
