1 Parents' warning after daughter's death from contraceptive complications

The parents of a teenage girl who died of a blood clot condition, which was exacerbated while she was taking the pill, are calling for changes to the way contraceptives are prescribed.

Seventeen-year-old Isabella Rangiamohia Alexander was walking with her parents before suddenly collapsing.

Her parents say she had been feeling unwell for the previous few months, but it didn’t concern them.

2 Steve Maharey quits as chair of Pharmac, ACC

Maharey, the chairman of both Pharmac and ACC, has resigned from his positions on both organisations' boards.

Both the Health Minister Dr Shane Reti and Minister for ACC Matt Doocey announced today they had accepted his resignation.

3 Tory Whanau: A council divided and a video no-one's seen

"I have a problem with alcohol."

Two days ago, Wellington’s Mayor Tory Whanau released a statement amid reports of a "drunken incident" at a bar in the city two weekends ago.

Today, she returned to work at the Wellington City Council after recovering from Covid-19 at home.

4 Man suffering headaches for months finds chopsticks in brain

A Vietnamese man suffering from severe headaches for months was shocked to discover a pair of chopsticks were lodged in his brain.

He recalled being involved in a fight a number of months earlier while drinking.

The man believes the chopsticks were lodged into his nose before being shoved into his brain.

5 Man struck by vehicle while lying on Auckland road at 2am

Emergency services were called to the scene in Pakuranga Heights at about 2.24am.

The 33-year-old male has undergone emergency surgery.
