Four arrested after drugs, cash seized in Whanganui

Three men and one woman are facing charges after police seized thousands in cash and 1kg of illicit drugs in Whanganui last week.

Approximately $70,000 in cash and 1kg of methamphetamine and other controlled drugs were seized late last week by the Whanganui Organised Crime Unit.

Police said two of the men were arrested in Levin and were carrying "a significant amount of drugs and cash".

The third man was arrested at a residence in Waverly with the assistance of the Armed Offenders' Squad.

The woman was arrested after further search warrants were carried out in Whanganui.

Four people are in custody, charged with possessing methamphetamine for supply and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The three men aged 46, 47 and 53, as well as the 31-year-old woman, appeared in the Levin and Whanganui courts on November 23 and 24.

They are remanded in custody, facing charges of possessing methamphetamine or GBL for supply and unlawful possession of a firearm.
