Body found near Hawke's Bay river identified as missing teen

The person whose body was found near a Hawke's Bay river has today been identified as missing Te Awamutu man Matthew Knight.

The 19-year-old's body was found near the mouth of the Mohaka River, south of Wairoa, last Tuesday.

Knight had last been seen in the Raupunga/Mohaka area late on the evening of Monday, October 9.

"Police are working to support Matthew’s family at this difficult time," police said.

His death has been referred to the coroner.
