Wiggles 'deeply disappointed' song played to drive homeless away

November 3, 2023
Hot Potato is reportedly being played on loop at a regularly used shelter.

The Wiggles said they are "deeply disappointed" with a Western Australian council's decision to play Hot Potato to drive off those experiencing homelessness.

The children's song Hot Potato is reportedly being played on repeat at Graham Bricknell Memorial Music Shell in Bunbury, which is 200km south of Perth.

In a statement to ABC, a spokesman for The Wiggles said the decision "ran counter" to their songs' purpose.

"The Wiggles' music is created to bring joy and happiness to children and families around the world.

"We are deeply disappointed to hear that it is being used in any other way."

The ABC have reported the band has approached the City of Bunbury to request the song no longer be played.

The council declined to comment to ABC but as of yesterday, the song had been switched off.
