Two people have died after crashes in the North Island yesterday afternoon and this morning.
The first person died after a crash in northern Taranaki yesterday.
The two-vehicle crash on Mokau Rd was reported shortly after 5.30pm, police said. It occurred just north of Okau Rd.
"Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are underway," a police spokesperson said.
The second death was in a crash on State Highway 1 this morning.
The crash at Putāruru in southern Waikato was reported to police at about 8.15am.
"The road is closed, and motorists are advised to avoid the area," a spokesperson said.
