A man has been arrested after a fire at a vacant boarding house on Dunedin's Phillip St on Friday last week.
The man, 57, was charged with arson and is due to appear in the Dunedin District Court today.
No one was injured in the blaze, but several adjacent properties were damaged.
Eyewitness Dean Smith told 1News he was driving to work when he saw the fire.
"I probably got to the fire like a minute after it started, but this was an inferno, it was just fully ablaze, the fire [crew] had just got there and they just could not put it out," he said.
