At Kim Carter's place, there are plenty of monkeys on the bed - not to mention on the walls, tables and shelves too.
"Mischievous Monkeys" are what they're called. They're made of socks and stuffing and are making a difference for sick kids.
Kim goes ape for some cool socks - her cupboards being loaded with them - and after eight years, she decided to turn them into soft toys.
"It’s an illness buying socks," she joked.
After sewing together some cheeky friends, she stuffs them as she catches some TV.
"Why just sit and watch TV when you can use your time to help somebody else?" she said.
Once they're made, she sells them online and across Auckland's Facebook markets.
All the monkey money she makes goes to Starlit HOPE, a charity started by the late Gabby Devine as she was being treated for cancer.
The monotonous nature of Gabby's treatment in hospital inspired her to create "Boredom Buster Packs" to brighten the days of her young ward mates.
"Although she was going through treatment herself, her heart was thinking of others," Kim said of Gabby, "and I just found that to be remarkable."
Kim takes immense pride in the many days she's brightened for sick kids, choking up as she shared how much she's donated thus far to Starlit HOPE.
"It's close to $50,000... they're all amazing kids. They're superheroes."
