UK flight cancelled after passenger defecates on toilet floor

October 18, 2023

EasyJet customers have been left fuming after their flight was cancelled due to a passenger reportedly defecating on the floor of the airplane toilet.

Flight EZY8054 to London's Gatwick Airport was scheduled to leave Tenerife on Sunday night (local time), but had already run into issues prior to the toilet incident, causing a several hour delay.

One passenger told The Daily Mail that they had been moved from one plane to a smaller one, resulting in the budget airline having to "remove 10 people from the plane, which caused lots of arguing, and that literally took two hours".

"Once they got those 10 people off, the plane was heavy because we were at full capacity. So then they were randomly putting our luggage on other people’s flights to Gatwick, and that took hours again."

In footage shared to X (formerly Twitter), the pilot can then be heard announcing the delayed flight would be cancelled altogether due to a passenger "defecat[ing] on the toilet floor" with a new flight rescheduled for the following day.

Footage shared on the social media platform also appears to show toilet paper all over the aisle.

Disgruntled passengers took to X to express their outrage, saying they had been given limited information, and that the entire situation had been handled poorly.

Fellow passengers also claimed the captain was "rude" and "very unprofessional".

To add to the chaos, easyJet reportedly asked stranded passengers to organise their own accommodation for the night due to high demand for hotels in the area.

The airline apologised for the disruption, and promised to refund the cost of a "reasonably priced room" as well as other food and travel costs, requesting passengers to find accommodation that was "three stars or equivalent".

Passengers eventually managed to board a new flight to London the following afternoon.
