A homicide investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead in a home in Wellington this afternoon.
The body of a woman in her 60s was found at a property on Totara Rd, in Miramar, just after 2pm today, Detective Senior Sergeant Tim Leitch said.
Anyone in the Totara Rd area who saw or heard anything suspicious between early Saturday morning and early Sunday morning has been asked to contact police.
Totara Rd residents can expect to see a heightened police presence in the area overnight and tomorrow morning while a scene examination is carried out.
"Cordons will remain in place around the address for the next few days and residents are thanked for their ongoing support and cooperation," Leitch said.
"Police do not believe there to be any risk to the wider community."
