Pink has been using "poi flags" at her elaborate concerts to celebrate "beautiful Māori people".
The singer made the comments on X (formerly Twitter) this afternoon when responding to the fact some people mistook the flags for Israeli ones due to their colours.
"I am getting many threats because people mistakenly believe I am flying Israeli flags in my show. I am not. I have been using Poi flags since the beginning of this tour," she wrote to fans.
"These were used many, many years ago by the Māori people in New Zealand and because they and the Māori people are beautiful to me, we use them. I do not fly flags in my show in support of anything or anyone except the rainbow flag. That will remain my position. I am a human. I believe in peace. Equality. Love. I am deeply saddened by the state of the world. I pray for all of us."
Pink has been using the flags in her Summer Carnival concert tour since it began in June, during the song What About Us.
1News spoke to a traditional poi maker who said "poi flags" are not used in Māori culture.
Pink likely was referring to the fact the flags are attached to a poi-like ball on a cord.
Pink has enjoyed numerous visits to New Zealand where she is often spotted out and about enjoying the local sites.
She has two New Zealand shows lined up for 2024, one at Dunedin's Forsyth Barr Stadium on March 5, and two at Auckland's Eden Park on March 8 and 9.
