One person has died following a house fire in Waitaanga, Ruapehu this morning.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand said they were called to a "very rural, very remote" property at around 7.40am.
The house was fully destroyed and fire crews are still working to extinguish it.
"Four crews attended including a water tanker and are still in attendance along with Police and a specialist Fire and emergency fire investigator."
FENZ said there's no risk of the blaze spreading to other properties given how rural it is.
