More charges laid against 18yo in fatal 'street racing' crash

Police have filed three additional charges, including a manslaughter charge, against a teenager following a fatal crash last month in Rangiora.

Adam Michael Rapson, 18, was behind the wheel of a car that crashed into a house on McIvor Place around 5am on September 17, following a report of illegal street racing.

Last month he was charged with dangerous driving causing the death of fellow teenager Zara Mitchell, who was a passenger in the car.

Today, police have sought to upgrade that charge to manslaughter and add two additional charges of dangerous driving causing injury.

Rapson is due to reappear in Christchurch District Court on October 17.
