One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash near Levin in the lower North Island over the weekend.

Emergency services were alerted to the crash on SH57 at Koputaroa at about 3.20pm yesterday.

"The road was blocked while emergency services attended but is clear now," a police spokesperson said this morning.

"Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing."
