Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a Wellington park.

The man was found dead in Tanera Park in the suburb of Brooklyn about 3.45pm.

Police said at this stage the man's death is being treated as unexplained.

A scene examination is underway and people are asked to avoid the park while it takes place.

Anyone who was in the park yesterday afternoon, particularly near the community garden, is asked to contact police on 105.
