Man charged after gunfire reported in Four Square car park

A man is facing firearms charges after gunfire was reported in a Taupō Four Square car park.

Police said the "firearms incident" took place around 8pm outside the Four Square on Rifle Range Rd last night.

"Thanks to help from the public and extensive inquiries police have arrested and charged a 31-year-old man," police said in a statement this afternoon.

He is due to appear in Rotorua District Court tomorrow on charges of possession and discharging a firearm.

No one was injured in the incident.
