Two people have died, and another is in hospital following a two-car crash at Iwitahi, east of Taupō, yesterday evening.
Emergency services were called to State Highway 5 shortly before 6pm.
Two people died at the scene, and a third was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.
The serious crash unit has been examining the scene, and enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
