A young fan was taken to hospital in Christchurch after being hit by a six struck by New Zealand's Glenn Phillips at Hagley Oval on Sunday.
Phillips cleared the boundary but unfortunately the ball struck the 12-year-old girl in the head.
She was taken to hospital for checks, a NZ Cricket spokesperson said.
After hitting the winning runs shortly afterwards, he rushed to the sideline to check on the youngster.
Meanwhile, Ish Sodhi became just the fifth player to take 100 international T20 wickets as NZ overcame Bangladesh by eight wickets in their tri-series hit-out.

Michael Bracewell, Jimmy Neesham and Adam Milne all made a hash of simple chances, which Sodhi put down to a mystical element.
"Glenn (Phillips) was saying there was a witch at backward cover point stopping us catching those balls," he said.
With Bangladesh at 1-52 off seven and poised to launch, the Kiwi spinners arrived to restrict Bangladesh to eight or below in each over from the eighth to the 18th, keeping a leash on their innings.
Bracewell (2-14) was superb off his four overs, as was Sodhi, who had 2-13 off three until conceding 18 in the penultimate over.
Opener Najmal Shanto top-scored with 33, while Nurul Hasan thrashed 25 off 12 after coming in at 6-102 to ensure the Tigers reached a competitive total.
When Finn Allen (16) fell early in NZ's chase, Conway and Williamson settled in for the long haul.
After a slow start, Conway got moving in the ninth over, smashing a 107-metre six over long-off that lost the ball and required umpires to fetch a replacement.
Williamson (30 off 29) chipped to mid-on with the total in sight, with Phillips (23 off 9) smashing New Zealand home with two sixes in the 18th over.
The tri-series has a rest day before another round-robin begins on Tuesday and a final on Friday, when the three nations head to Australia for the World Cup.
