The barbs are flying as the race to lead the country’s biggest city is heating up.
Mayor Phil Goff says Auckland is a city that’s quickly becoming world class.
“It's about a huge investment in transport infrastructure, it's about promotions of actions to respond to climate change.”
Goff says he doesn’t have many regrets as mayor but that it would be “lovely” to see the opening of the City Rail Link.
However, one of his challengers, Wayne Brown, is less than complementary of his work.
“He's failed in everything, nothing is finished, the streets are clogged with construction works.
Goff says he’s worried about Brown, who's labelled his opponents as “idiots”.
Goff has signed off with a slight endorsement for centre left candidate, Efeso Collins.
It's become a two horse race between Collins and Brown and with less than two weeks to go, Brown has nudged ahead of Collins in most polls.
