The big clean-up is underway after wild weather slammed parts of the South Island yesterday.
Many roads are still closed and as river levels and flood waters drop, people are getting to work in the likes of Omarara, repairing damage and drying things out.
It comes as a major route linking Nelson and the West Coast will be closed for at least several days after a slip left large rocks blocking the road.
