Two residents at an Auckland rest home have been hospitalised with Covid-19.

It comes after nine people - eight residents and one staff member - were reported as testing positive for Covid-19 at the Edmonton Meadows Care Home in Henderson on Friday and Saturday, the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

The remaining cases are currently being cared for within the facility.

There were no new cases reported today.

The care home's 52 residents and 40 staff have been tested for Covid-19.

The Ministry of Health says other than the nine cases already reported, the others have tested negative.

"Aged residential care facilities are well versed in infection prevention and control measures and have processes in place to care for Covid-19 positive residents while ensuring the safety of other residents and staff."

Auckland Regional Public Health Service and Waitematā DHB staff are supporting employees and residents at the privately-owned facility.

“At this stage, only one positive staff member has been required to stand down,” the health ministry said. The care home continues to operate under Alert Level 3 guidelines, meaning visitors may only visit the facility on compassionate grounds.
