Aerial footage shows large swathes of mountain bike track swallowed by Ashburton River

Drone footage has captured the bulk of Mountain Bike Ashburton's tracks underwater after major flooding in the Canterbury town.

The footage showed water from the Ashburton River had swallowed large swathes of the mountain bike club's tracks.

Mountain Bike Ashburton said in a Facebook post it would rebuild them.

Known as the MTB Loop, the 11.5 kilometre track runs along the north side of the river.
