Person dies in Far North blaze; third house fire death in 24 hours

After two morning blazes yesterday, firefighters were also called to a home in the Far North late last night. (Source: Other)

A person has died in a house fire in Hihi in the Far North.

This is the third house fire related fatality today.

When Fire and Emergency arrived at 10:10pm, the house had already burnt to the ground and the patient was receiving CPR.

A fire investigator is at the scene, but FENZ have not confirmed whether or not the fire is suspicious at this stage.

The fire has now been extinguished.
