Body of missing fisherman believed to have washed up on Auckland beach

A body, believed to be that of missing fisherman Wei Shi, has washed up at Nine Pin Rock, near Whatipu Beach.

Police said in a statement they were notified this morning. The find comes after Mr Shi was swept off the rocks at the beach on November 17.

Formal identification is yet to be completed, but police believe it is Mr Shi.

Next of kin have been notified and the death will be referred to the coroner.
