The gig economy has been hailed as a major game changer in the world of work, and possibly the end of the 9 to 5.
It’s based on short-term contracts via a digital platform where you get paid for the jobs, or ‘gigs’, rather than a regular salary or wage.
If you’ve taken an Uber, stayed in an Airbnb or ridden on a Lime scooter then you’ve been looked after by the gig economy.
But where does the buck stop, is it fair and are our labour laws out of tune with this new way of working?
