A novel new idea for fund raising has seen charity literally "going to the dogs."

High-end, architecturally designed houses for your pet pooch are being sold to help people and their pets caught up in family violence.

The fundraiser is the brain child of John Williams.

"I thought why not create an architecturally designed dog house competition and it went from there really," he told Seven Sharp.
