Ryan Crotty is looking forward to one last hurrah with midfield partner Sonny Bill Williams, both named to start in the All Blacks' Rugby World Cup third placed playoff against Wales.

With Crotty departing New Zealand for Japanese side Kubota Spears, and Williams yet to announce his playing future post-2019, the pair will link up for one last time in the All Blacks' quest for bronze tomorrow night.

Fronting media after the All Blacks' team naming in Toyota, Crotty was asked about his feelings towards signing off alongside Williams.

"It'd be awesome," Crotty said.

"It's special, I think we first played together [in] 2010? 2011?

"There's a lot of emotion around this week, but it's important to use that in a positive way, and direct that into our preparation so we get the performance that we want.

"It'll be special running around with the old fella again."
