Brad Weber makes stunning impact off the bench with pair of long-range tries

October 3, 2019

Brad Weber will be leaving coach Steve Hansen with plenty to think about after a strong performance for the All Blacks tonight as he helped the side to a 63-0 win over Canada in his Rugby World Cup debut.

Weber replaced TJ Perenara for the entire second half and made an immediate impact on the match, with his quick and accurate deliveries from both a ruck and lineout led to the All Blacks' first two tries after the break.

The Hawke's Bay halfback then got in on the action himself, finishing a counter-attacking play from the All Blacks as he outran Canadian chasers for the final 25 metres.

Weber was then in again minutes later when a well-worked set-piece off a scrum on halfway put him in space as again he left the defenders behind to cross over.

The appearance in Oita was Weber's third All Blacks cap after debuting for the team against Manu Samoa in 2015.

Weber's other appearance was off the bench in the Rugby Championship earlier this year where he got 13 minutes in the All Blacks' 20-16 win over Argentina in Buenos Aires.
