One person dead after crashing into a power pole in Whakatane

One person has died after crashing into a power pole in Whakatane this morning.

Emergency services were called to Commerce St about 11.36am.

A police spokesperson told 1 NEWS the job came up as a medical event – so it is unclear whether the person died from the medical event or the crash.

Two ambulances attended, a St John spokesperson said.
