The All Blacks are insisting they won't put any timeline on a return for Brodie Retallick after his serious injury against the Springboks but admit they're glad to have Scott Barrett return from injury in his place.

Retallick is currently sidelined after dislocating his shoulder in Saturday's 16-all draw with the Springboks, and while there was no complications to the injury, All Blacks coach Steve Hansen is refusing to rush his return with the World Cup drawing near.

"With a dislocated shoulder, two things can happen," Hansen said.

"You can get bone damage and thankfully he hasn't got that, but we know he will have ligament damage, and just how well that settles down and how quickly that does will depend on how quickly he can come back."

Hansen said the other All Blacks in the injury ward - Scott Barrett, Ryan Crotty and Tim Perry - are all progressing for possible returns. However, Barrett was the only one officially named in today's 34-man Bledisloe squad.

"All came back with favourable reports from their scans," Hansen said.

"Scotty's likely to be available for the first Bledisloe, so that's promising."

The first Bledisloe Test against the Wallabies is on Saturday, August 10 in Perth.
