Motorcycle passenger dies, rider injured following crash near Port Waikato

A passenger on a motorbike has died this afternoon, the rider in a moderate condition, following a crash near Port Waikato.

The accident happened just before 2.30pm on The Tuakau Bridge -Port Waikato Road, police say.

The passenger on the bike died at the scene while the rider has been taken to Middlemore Hospital.

The Serious Crash Unit is attending the scene.

Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
