Power slowly restored after affecting 22,000 homes and businesses north of Auckland

Households and businesses north of Puhoi and up to Whangarei can expect power to start gradually coming back on after 22,000 customers were left without power for about two hours today.

A Transpower spokesperson told 1 NEWS crews have been on site working to fix a faulty wire which fed power to the Maungaturoto and Wellsford substations.

A member of the public said she almost ran into trouble on the road, with a number of petrol stations being affected by the power outage.
