Former member of the infamous English band, The Stranglers, Hugh Cornwell, is touring New Zealand again.
The former guitarist for the band is living it up as a solo artist, admitting life is a lot easier being in charge himself.
"When you're in a band there's a lot of politics going on, power pulling trying to keep people happy and now I am in charge it's a lot easier," Cornwell said.
He left the band in 1990, so audiences to his Kiwi tour, which opens in Christchurch tomorrow night, can expect his solo material as well as songs from his band days, including Golden Brown.
"When you write a song and you think it's good you think this is a great song but you don't have any idea of how long its going to stick around," the 69-year-old says.
His latest album, Monster, is about giving recognition to those who earned their fame.
"Now, we are completely obsessed with celebrity. They don't care why they just want to be famous," he said.
"With the album I'm highlighting people who have a right to be known - be it for bad or worse."
