Homicide investigation launched after death of 17-month-old girl found with critical injuries in Tauranga

A homicide investigation has been launched by police after the death of a 17-month-old girl who was critically injured in Tauranga last week.

Sadie-Leigh Gardner was taken to Tauranga Hospital from an address in Maungatapu Road with critical injuries on Wednesday 27 March.

She was then transported to Auckland's Starship Hospital where she died two days later.

Police are continuing to speak to her family, who they say are cooperating with them fully.

Police are appealing for information from the public to assist with their inquiries and ask that anyone with information contact them on (07) 577 4300.
