All Blacks and Highlanders halfback Aaron Smith dropped a humorous hint to overseas interest in his signature, having today re-signed with New Zealand Rugby through to 2021.
Having put pen to paper on a new extension with New Zealand Rugby, Smith fronted media in Dunedin today and was asked about potential offers that could have seen him head overseas rather than remain with the All Blacks.
"We got a couple of offers, and one was pretty close that gave me and [partner] Teagan talked about," he said.
"But as I said, I've still got some dreams and things that I want to achieve in New Zealand, that was a real big driver for me."
While Smith didn't want to name any other interested parties, the All Blacks and Highlanders halfback quashed any doubt, simply saying: "They eat sushi."
