Kiwi basketball star Steven Adams has seen his selfless and caring personality recognised after being named a finalist for a prestigious award by the NBA.
Adams is one of 12 nominees for the Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award which will be presented at this year's NBA Awards in June.
"The award recognises the player deemed the best teammate based on selfless play, on- and off-court leadership as a mentor and role model to other NBA players, and commitment and dedication to team," the NBA said.
The award was introduced six years ago and nominees are selected by a panel of NBA legends before players from all around the league then cast votes. The winner will get to donate $25,000 to a charity of their choice.

Adams is seen as a frontrunner this year after some incredible acts of sportsmanship so far this season, including when he sacrificed a chance to score an easy basket to ensure an opponent landed safely from a dangerous fall.
The Thunder centre is also rated highly for his work off-the-ball during games setting screens during games and his humourous interviews with media after them.
Previous winners of the award include all stars Chuancey Billups, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter and Dirk Nowitzki.
