A woman has been arrested in relation to the death of a man in Napier last night.
Police were called to a residential property in Akina, Hastings, at around 9pm, police said.
Neighbours told 1 NEWS a couple who lived at the address were constantly fighting.
One neighbour, who lives opposite the property, said the pair could often be heard screaming at each other.
They said they were concerned for the two young cihldren who lived at the home.
They claimed to have seen a number of people leave the property in a car last night.
Another neighbour who lives behind the property said the couple were together on and off, but the woman lived at the address full-time.
He also told 1 NEWS his partner saw a group of people coming in and out of the house last night and it sounded like they were having a party.
The 36-year-old woman appeared in court this afternoon charged with assault with intent to rob in relation to the investigation.
She was granted name suppression until her next appearance in April.
The woman, who appeared in a white jump suit, was declined bail and remanded into custody.
At this stage, the death is being treated as suspicious.
A forensics team has arrived at the scene and police are door-knocking at nearby residences.
Investigations are ongoing.
