All Blacks and Highlanders halfback Aaron Smith says he still has plenty more to give, having today re-signed with New Zealand Rugby.
Smith, 30, will remain with both the Highlanders and the All Blacks until at least 2021, today putting pen to paper on a new deal with NZR, having interested a number of overseas clubs.
Speaking to media today though, Smith says that he hardly had to think twice about where his future lay.
"[It was an] easy decision," Smith said.
"I know going forward that my future is here in New Zealand for two more years.
"I'm really excited about that, and just pretty grateful for the opportunity that NZRU and the Highlanders have shown in me to be able to want to stay on."
While many of his All Blacks teammates have already, or will soon announce plans to leave New Zealand at the end of the 2019 season and World Cup in Japan, Smith says his decision was made for reasons off the field, just as much as rugby itself.
"A lot of things are lining up for us off field which is great for us.
"Me and my partner have a gym here in Dunedin, we're expecting a little baby and I'm not really ready to leave."
With his personal trophy cabinet bulging with achievements, Smith lastly has his sights set on playing 100 Test matches for the All Blacks, saying that fans haven't come close to seeing his best yet.
"I'm still learning and growing myself. I'm not the finished product.
"I'm just really glad that I've still got time to be able to get the best out of what I can prove.
"I've got some goals in mind that this contract's given me available, that [100 Tests] might be one of them. There's heaps of goals and things that I want to achieve in these next couple of years, or maybe more."
