New Zealand Cricket has decided to cancel the New Zealand under-19 tour of Bangladesh that was scheduled for next month in the wake of last month's Christchurch terror attack.

NZC chairman Greg Barclay said the Kiwi governing body spoke with the Bangladesh Cricket Board about the tour and the two parties agreed the timing of it was insensitive and inappropriate.

Bangladesh's senior team was almost caught up in the March 15 attack, in which 50 people were killed by a gunman, with members of the squad on their way to the Al Noor mosque for Friday prayers.

The third Test between the Black Caps and Bangladesh was cancelled shortly after with Bangladesh players flying home the following day.

Barclay said both boards are still committed to future tours across all levels with the next, an under-19s tour, taking place in New Zealand in September.
