Crusaders assistant coach Ronan O'Gara has rubbished reports he'll leave his current role to link up with France heading into this year's World Cup in Japan.

In his second season with the Crusaders, O'Gara had been the subject of a report from Midi-Olympique earlier this month, alleged to have been in talks with French rugby chief Bernard Laporte, wanted as a defence coach to aid Les Bleus.

Speaking to Stuff today though, O'Gara re-affirmed his commitment to the Crusaders and Scott Robertson.

"I've had a sounding out from an agent but nothing direct. As I said to Razor [Scott Robertson], if it gets hotter, he would be the first to know," he said.

"If you get the best out of yourself in your role, then these opportunities will come. But is there a bigger opportunity than working with the Crusaders? I'm not too sure."

O'Gara's current deal with New Zealand Rugby and the Crusaders runs through until the end of the 2019 season, although has indicated he is open to staying in New Zealand.
