Driver flees after two-car crash in south Auckland

A driver fled the scene of a two-car crash in south Auckland this morning, while another was seriously injured.

Police said the crash took place about 3.19am near Harmony Avenue on Water Street, with two cars going through a motorway barrier.

One driver ran from the scene on foot while the other was taken to hospital in a moderate-to-serious condition.

A witness who went to the scene afterwards told 1 NEWS they believed the two cars may have been racing.

One car ended up on its roof, the witness said.

Emergency services attended and police are looking into the cause of the crash.
