Seven Sharp co-host Jeremy Wells went to check out a documentary about turning bad dogs good, with some of the toughest critics in this dog eat dog world.

Wells went to Auckland's Hollywood Cinema with a pack of canine friends to watch the Kiwi-helmed movie Dog's Best Friend.

The film is about an ex-SAS sniper named Jacob Leezak who takes in unwanted "problem" dogs at his compound in Australia.

New Zealand actor Eryn Wilson directed the film, which is also part of a new cinema initiative called Screen Plus.

The idea behind Screen Plus is that instead of going to the cinema to watch the film you can choose to rent it directly from the cinema to watch at home.
