Fire crews battle large scrub fire in Mangonui, Northland

Four fire engines are battling a large bush fire at Mangonui in Northland.

Fire services were called to battle the blaze at 2.43am, a Fire and Emergency spokesperson confirmed to 1 NEWS.

The fire has since sperad to around 150 square metres.

There are no surrounding properties at risk or reported injuries, but machinery has been moved as a precaution.

Fire crews will continue to contain the fire until daylight.

Helicopters may be deployed following an assessment by the regional fire manager to help tackle the blaze at first light.
