Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison was one of the 59 overseas delegations attending the National Remembrance Service for the 50 victims of the terrorist attack in Christchurch.
He was joined by Australian Opposition leader Bill Shorten and Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove.
The delegation visited the Masjid Al Noor on Deans Ave before the service to lay flowers.
Heavily armed officers patrolled the central city park, with snipers and elite staff from Australia reportedly boosting police numbers in what has been described as the country's biggest security operation.

A bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is to take place this afternoon.
Thousands more are expected to attend a service at Auckland's Eden Park this afternoon.
