David Bain's groomsman sentenced to at least 28 years in prison for rape and murder of Christchurch woman

Two-time murderer, Paul Pounamu Tainui has today been sentenced to at least 28 years in prison for the rape and murder of Merivale woman Nicole Marie Tuxford.

Tainui previously admitted killing the 27-year-old life counsellor, after he broke into her house on April 7, 2018, and sexually violated her.

In the High Court at Christchurch this morning Tainui was sentenced to life imprisonment with a non parole period of 28 years.

Nicole Tuxford’s murder came 24 years after Tainui killed Hokitika woman, Kimberly Jean Schroder, in similar circumstances.

Tainui, who is also known as Paul Russell Wilson, was a groomsman at David Bain’s wedding after the pair met in prison.
