Kiwi OKC star Steven Adams misses out on NBA All Star selection

February 1, 2019

New Zealand's NBA star Steven Adams has missed out on being selected in the 2019 NBA All Star game.

The Oklahoma City Thunder centre missed out on being one of the seven reserve players added to the Western Conference team.

Adams' OKC teammate Russell Westbrook was selected alongside Anthony Davis, Nikola Jokic, Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, LaMarcus Aldridge and Karl-Anthony Towns.

The 25-year-old has had a breakout year averaging 15.4 points and 10 rebounds a game this year for Oklahoma City.

Adams was the sixth most voted All Star in the Western Conference by fans and was the seventh most popular amongst players votes.

With all participating players now accounted for, the next stage will be the draft in which LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo will pick their squads. James and Antetokounmpo are the captains after they received the most votes from the West and East, respectively.

The draft takes place next Friday NZT.
