The Hurricanes welcomed back their All Blacks players in training, with the Super Rugby season set to start next month.
After being put through a gruelling fitness test, Hurricanes prop Jeff Toomaga-Allan says it has been the toughest pre-season in his seven years at the Wellington franchise.
"We've really been pushing each other, you know there is no given spots in this team," said Toomaga-Allan.
"I really like the fact and respect that about Plum (John Plumtree – Hurricanes coach), that he has made it clear to us that there is no number one, number two, whatever.
"You earn your keep and that's how I like it. It makes me better and I'm sure it will make other players better."
The Hurricanes take on the Crusaders in their first pre-season hit out in Levin on Saturday.
